Reproducing this painting was challenging because Botticelli masterfully mixed his colors to create a very subtle color and value shift combined with the strong clean and fine lines that separate his subjects from their surroundings creating a very delicate feel.
In her own words:
“To me, Sandro Botticelli’s Birth of Venus is the ultimate expression of eternal femininity… As a dancer of the Isadora Duncan and Middle Eastern traditions, I constantly refer to this work physically and theoretically to inspire the full embodiment of the dance. As a Greek, it will be a significant gesture for me to have the most famous image of a Greek goddess of the Renaissance recreated on my skin, as it is a symbol of rebirth and Hellenic mythology.”
